I just realized that when I publish a post that was begun previous to the day published, the date shown is when the post was started, NOT when it was published. This is really annoying! Sometimes I write down ideas, but don't get around to fleshing them out until weeks later. I don't want my post to be lost in the past. Google, you rock, but this is just silly.

I have noticed the same thing, though I don't think I'm as peeved as you are about it. I rarely start a post, leave it, and then post others before finishing that original post. I think that has to do with my "I hate to leave things undone" mentality. I either finish the post within a day or two, or I never get back to it at all!
On a related note, I'm wondering how you feel about the ability to "schedule" posts. You can write a post, but change the date to a future time, and Blogger will hold on to your post until the appropriate moment to deliver it in cyberspace. What does it mean when I compose something on one day and publish it a week later? While this happens all the time with printed texts, it seems contrary to the chronological nature of blogging.
you should also let people know that this is the "lost" post to which you refer in this complaint
